Humpday Update 4/30/25: Revenge of the Sith and My Birthday

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Wednesday?! Already?? Listen, I was debating putting this Humpday Update out this week. There is plenty to talk about, but I just haven’t had time to do anything here. And I’m feeling it! It’s almost as if I created some sort of a habit with working on the blog, and now that I’m out of that habit and not doing it for a week or so, I’m feeling lost.

But let’s get to it! See if we could rapid fire this bish.

Humpday Update

  • We went to watch Star Wars Revenge of the Sith in theaters for its 20th Anniversary!

  • It was so crazy when I stopped to think about it. I mean, I was there. Day 1. When it released in theaters 20 years ago, I remember being in that line and seeing nerds dressed as Jedi. I remember going with my then girlfriend (now wife) and my cousin. And I remember buying a bag of peanut M&M’s that was special and promotional because it had the yellow and red M&M characters on the bag dressed as Star Wars characters. So being able to take my two sons to go watch it in theaters again? It was well worth the cost and then some. I do regret not doing the 4DX because the opening scene with the space battle would’ve been epic.

  • Woo hoo! Huge props to Google Photos because I was quickly able to find a picture of said M&M’s! The picture is from 2014 which means I kept that freaking bag for 9 years!! Man, I’m awesome.

  • I remember that bag vividly because I never ate it, and instead, kept it on my memorabilia shelf…. for yeeeeeeears. We moved and were going through boxes and I found them…. Just a clump of.. something.. inside the bag. It was gross, but also sad when I had to throw it away.

  • Nintendo Switch 2 was officially available for pre-order! And I was up till 1:30am that morning fighting bots and nerds in queues and to no avail. Just brick walls at every corner. The next morning, I took the boy to Gamestop where they did physical in person pre-orders – you know, the preferred, old school way of doing things. Did we get one?! Maybe you’ll find out in another post!
  • It was my birthday this past week! I’m not one for going crazy about celebrating. Honestly, I get pretty bummed around my birthday and it puts me in a funk for a few days surrounding it. Nothing to do with the fact that I turned 42 38, which it itself sucks. But just a general sense of meh is hard to push out of when the day comes.
  • It’s nothing to do with my wife and kids and those who care enough to try to make the day special. It is very clear I have plenty of people who care and who want to make the day something. So for those, I’m very appreciative.
  • What did we do? Nothing crazy! Teen actually had a baseball game we had to go to. After that we wanted to do something fun but also had to eat. So we went out to Universal and ate at the Hard Rock for the first time in fooooorever.

  • Burger was pretty great, ngl. Going to have to go back every now and then. It got me to thinking how fun it would be to try a new place to eat every week. Like Friday nights are New Place Nights, and we just venture out. Maybe one day, if we ever get into a comfortable spot with money. One day.

  • Wife made me a cheesecake, as per the tradition that is at least 5 years strong now. I swear, every year it gets better, and every year we ask ourselves why does she only make cheesecake once a year.
  • I mean, LOOK AT IT!

  • Wife and kids got me some pretty great stuff. Yeah, cash is great, but I always prefer gifts. More personable. More of a show of what the person thinks of you.

  • Like these socks the princess picked out for me. Absolute. Perfection.

  • And this freaking mug! I think it’s my new favorite mug!

  • And guess what? I managed to sell my old OLED Switch, right? Well, together with the birthday money I gathered, I now have enough to secure me a Switch 2! You know, whenever I’m able to pre-order it. Might even grab a pro controller to go with it. Of course, this depends on if when it releases, we’ll be ok enough to spend the money on it. So we’ll see!

  • I’m a firm believer in spaghetti night. We don’t have it every week but we should. Wife started getting heartburn from red sauce whenever we ate it so I just recently started cutting the sauce with heavy cream and either ricotta or grated parmesan if I had it. It’s been doing the trick! If only I had a food blog to talk about such tips.

  • I may or may not have gotten inspiration for spaghetti from watching No Reservations the other day. It’s one of the movies I’m so happy the wife got me months ago because it isn’t streaming anywhere and I refuse to pay $20 for it digitally. If you’ve never watched it, I recommend. It’s one of those great cooking/food movies and the story is quite deep and emotional.

Alright, I don’t think I have any more fun stuff. Onto..

The Business End

  • Ok, this is the reason why I’ve been slacking! I’ve been busy working on shop stuff! I was focused on the blog for a while, having a really good stretch of fixing things up and updating with posts. But I was neglecting the shop. So now, the roles have reversed.
  • I’ve been going crazy trying to get a Facebook group up and running. APPARENTLY, I am overthinking things and taking something simple and turning it into something big. Or so I’ve heard from people who deal with groups regularly and who may or may not live with me in holy matrimony.
  • But anyway, she may be right. That’s beside the point though! I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row and go about things properly. I’m just profesh like that, what can I say? It’s finally up though! It’s open and awaiting posts. I’m looking forward to having that be the place where I post whatever it is I’m working on and seeing what comes from it.

  • To celebrate Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, I made this sticker! I know, it doesn’t seem like anything. Probably looks like I had a stroke and wanted to always remember it. But no. This is very Star Wars and very much in the IYKYK category of fandom.
  • Want to know? Here you go…. Play the video in the spoiler, and look at the sticker. You’ll figure it out.
IYKYK

  • If you want to check out the sticker in the shop, then you can find it right here – IHBPFJAS Sticker
  • Other than that, not much more going on. I spent a long time trying to work on the images for the FB group as well as new banners and icons for the Shop. I’m not completely thrilled with it, but it’s what I did and I don’t feel like doing anymore so that’s what I got now LOL.

Alright, I’m done. Till next week!

Que dios te bendiga

Los
