UNBOXING | Pokémon Sword and Shield Switch Lite & Steelbook

UNBOXING TIME!

It’s a good time to be livin’, that’s for sure. This time of year is always full of excitement for us gamers, and for good reason! In particular, out RIGHT NOW is the very first Pokémon entry on the Nintendo Switch! Pokémon Sword and Shield is finally here and after so much waiting and seemingly even more drama and controversy, we get to finally play the game.

ICYMI: I recently hosted a podcast where we talked all about Pokemon Sword and Shield. Check it out!

But I’m not here to talk about the gameplay. We’re unboxing stuff now! And how fun it is! Here, let’s get to it:

That’s the Pokémon Sword and Shield Double Pack with the Steelbook, which is exclusive to Target. You can tell I’m excited by the way I almost cut my finger off when I picked up the knife to open it lol. You can pick up the double pack from other retailers, but if you want the steelbook, you need to grab it from Target. And I can’t promise you it’ll be there forever! Usually these types of editions are limited.

Know what else is limited? This bad boy!

That is the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition. And booooooooooooy is it niiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Both unboxings are very hush hush and only able to be viewed if you have the link. They’re unlisted because both the games, and the Switch Lite (freaking two of them!) are Christmas gifts for the kids. I’ve gone through great measures to ensure they don’t see this. I’ve set up restrictions on their devices to where they cannot access this site, like the oldest does sometimes, and like I said, the videos are unlisted. I will not make the mistakes of our previous generation! I know how sneaky kids can be with gifts.

Anyway, let’s check it out.

First of all, the double pack is standard Pokémon fare. It’s both games, wrapped individually (hence why I was able to unbox a Christmas gift), and thrown in there with a steelbook.

The steelbook itself is cool, but there’s nothing written on the spine! That always irritates me and I can’t stand it on the shelf when there’s no title on the case. My OCD, I can’t control it.

It features Zacian the legendary from Sword.

And Zamazenta, the legendary from Shield.

The inside features a map of the Galar Region, the new area introduced to the franchise.

Moving on to the new hotness! The Nintendo Switch Lite is currently my unicorn. In particular, this Zacian and Zamazenta Edition. I really didn’t care much for it with all the pictures when it was announced. It wasn’t until I watched an unboxing video on the day it released that I really fell in love with it. The pictures didn’t do it any justice and in person it is absolutely gorgeous.

The grey color is reminiscent of the original Game Boy, and the two colors – the cyan-ish blue and magenta – are representing the colors of Sword and Shield respectively.

I love all the colors going on here. I was going with the dark grey because I loved the contrasting color of the white buttons to it, but this combination of colors won me over. My kids are insanely lucky! I probably won’t be able to get a Switch Lite until after Christmas so this edition will most likely be gone by then.

On the back, you’ll see Zacian and Zamazenta featured once again.

The outline is very reflective and shiny when the light hits it, but a little darker when it doesn’t. It’s subtle enough to where it doesn’t stand out, and I adore it.

Everything about the Switch Lite is so perfect to me after getting to hold it in Best Buy after it released. Before that I was skeptical. But believe me when I say this little device is near perfect.

So there you go! Happy Pokémon Sword & Shield Day everyone!

Oh! Which version am I going to grab when I pick it up? Easily it’s going to be Shield. I prefer Zamazenta over Zacian. As far as starters go, I’m part of the #GrookeyGang hands down! I mean, c’mon, how can you not?!
