Humpday Update 9.12.18: A Little Free Time

TWO HD UPDATES?! I know, this is madness!

I’ve been wanting to get back into doing these. It seems my podcast replaced these updates in my mind, as I tended to talk a lot about what was going on on a weekly basis. But that’s not happening anymore, so here we are!

  • What’s been up? Living the dream. Kids are back in school and I’ve been keeping busy at home trying to get stuff done. Current project is transforming the kid’s rooms as they were miniature black holes, like kid rooms tend to be. I think the difference was worth almost getting sucked into an infinite abyss of nothingness.

  • For the youngest, this is his first room (not pictured because not done yet), so there was no adjusting. The oldest had bigger rooms in the houses we were in before, so space wasn’t a problem. We love this house but man is space a problem now in their rooms. But you know what? Not anymore! Careful planning, trying to figure what the best layout could be, it all lead to this. It’s like, omg, look son… You have a floor!

  • Before the wife locked me away in ikea building hell, I managed to clear out all of the front flower beds and replace it with some fresh black mulch. It took a lot of sweat but I think it came out pretty great. Here’s a little gallery of the before and after shots. I’m going to dedicate a post to it one of these days to show how we did it exactly.

  • Somewhere in between all of this spare time I apparently have, I also painted my wife’s office door! I know right, kids go to school and I’m a freaking renaissance man. Now this I’m proud of! I would say I don’t mean to brag, but that would be a flat out lie.

  • I had this planned out since before the summer. A surprise that I wanted to have ready for Mother’s Day, but time and the kids getting out of school really set me back. I did it on a spare door we had in the garage so it was easy to hide from the wife. A rough sketch was made and I painted the blue part before the summer started. Everything else I was able to knock out in one day after the kids went back to school. I never ever ever considered myself an artist by any means and still don’t. But I’m proud of my work here and think I did ok. If I had to do it again I’d only change a few things. Like less butts.

  • Theme parks! There’s a lot to talk about with theme parks and what we’ve been up to. Maybe enough to have its own HD Update? Hmmm.

  • I never picked them up because Best Buy had decided to stop making the alternate sigil covers, so I wrote them off and never bothered getting them. You can see in this tweet, I called out Best Buy on their BS. I mean, come on, look at the rest of the collection I have! But I walked into Best Buy one day and saw the latest two with the alternate packaging and nearly flipped, I was so happy. The wife, not so happy, but she ultimately understands my OCD.

  • I think she’s right though, I may have a problem.                  *shrugs* Dusts shelf of cool stuff.

  • Lastly, I’m not sure if I ever said it here, but I’ve been heavy into using the blog’s Instagram account. I even went back to displaying social media updates in the sidebar (look to the right side of the screen). I’m enjoying throwing all the family type stuff and theme park outings. Which is why my main account is nothing but things I’ve purchased lately. So go give me a follow if you haven’t yet!

And that’s it for this week! Be sure to let me know how much you missed me and my HD Updates. It was great getting back on this saddle, looking forward to it again.
