Revenge of the Fifth: Star Wars Day – May the 4th 2025

Reading Time: 12 minutes

I know, I know. Star Wars Day was yesterday. So to all those who care, I hope the 4th was with you. But today. Today is Revenge of the Fifth. And even though I wasn’t able to post anything yesterday like I would’ve liked, I could still do something today because technically, it’s still Star Wars days!

You have to remember, I’m a theme park fan. I come from a time where Star Wars had entire weekends dedicated to them. And they were AWESOME! Absolute best time to be a fan in the Disney Parks. It’s when characters took over and you could interact and take pictures with the coolest faces from Star Wars stories. You would walk in through the ticket center and see Storm Troopers patrolling the roof, acting as a security checkpoint. Droids would be rolling around all over. Bounty Hunters stalking the streets. Parades, autograph signings from actors in the movies. It was GLORIOUS!

I have a post up from 2015 where I documented stuff, you should check it out. It’s not 100% Star Wars, as we were on vacation and was more of a broad, “here’s what we did” kind of post. But still, there’s a lot there. And it turns out that was the last time Star Wars Weekend was a thing as they stopped doing them. But I feel like I have more pictures somewhere. I need to go looking, maybe make another post about it.

I also mentioned these awesome Weekends in another Star Wars centric post I made back in 2018, if you want to check that one out too. Ugh, to see the boys so young. Hurts me heart.

But hey! I’m not here to reminisce about Star Wars Weekends or younglings. Even though I’ll never forget what they took away from us. I’m here to talk about A Galaxy Far, Far Away, but more general, see.

No, no, no. Not General Keno-BI. Ugh, never mind.

Yesterday was typically a day where we are all out on Star Wars. We always make it a point to get out to Hollywood Studios and just take in the atmosphere of Galaxy’s Edge. They always have something going on to celebrate May the 4th, and special merch to check out and whatnot. But this year was the first time in a long, long time that we weren’t able to make it. We have annual passes still, but had to downgrade because of rising costs to freaking everything. So our passes, while they can get us into Disney Park still, block us out on the weekends.

Usually, it doesn’t bother us because we have a lot of stuff to do to make up for it. Also, we rather go to the parks when it’s not in the dead heat of the day or when it’s crazy packed and busy. You know, like the true Floridians we are. So we don’t usually miss Disney on the weekends. But it just so happens that May the 4th landed on a Sunday this year. So all of our traditions from the past like 6 or 7 years just got thrown out the window.

BUT! The folks at Disney are so nice. They make it an option to upgrade our passes if we wanted to. For the low, low price of $1,800!

So needless to say, we didn’t visit Black Spire Outpost like we always do. We actually didn’t do anything Star Wars yesterday. It was so sad! The Princess was all dressed in Star Wars thanks to the awesome wife who is turning into quite the seamstress.

Wife had a matching shirt, I was wearing Star Wars. But without being able to go to the park it just felt wrong. Haha, the princess even asked “does everyone know it’s Star Wars day? Because that guy wasn’t wearing a Star Wars shirt.” I don’t know, it just made me laugh. Gotta love kids and their innocent minds.

I would be remiss if I didn’t show off what the wife made for the princess last year. Heck, let’s do that! Didn’t go to Hollywood Studios to get our Star Wars on this year, but I never posted anything about last year here so let’s do this.

If you want to check out more of what my wife makes, or if you want to hire her to make you or your kid something, don’t hesitate to check her out!! You can see what she’s up to and contact her via Instagram – Stitchin’ by Day – tell her I sent you.

I’m quite proud and happy of how far the wife has come with her talents. Every special event or occasion, she’s in there whipping something up for the princess. It’s always awesome and I love that they both share in it together.

Please don’t pay mind to my cheesy photoshop add ons here haha.

If there’s one thing about Hollywood Studios on May the 4th, it’s that it is PACKED!

It’s usually a sold out kind of day you have to really plan out. If it was on a weekday that we could’ve gone, we would’ve booked it months in advance. It gets nuts!

One plus though is that it’s worth it. You’ll run into so many awesome characters. This is prime time for so many fans and nerds to come out and show off their best.

There was also a group of these people with clear backpacks showing off droids. It was sooooo coooool to see! Stuff like this is exactly what I love about coming here.

come on, imagine meeting up with a bunch of like-minded nerds dressed up as Star Wars characters, just sitting there playing Sabacc in the middle of Black Spire Outpost.

We even ran into a YouTuber that the boy usually watches! It was super cool of him to stop when we recognized him and talk to the boy and the princess. He even recorded them to try to fit them into his vlog. It was like the boy meeting a superhero, hahaha. Again, super cool of Jojo!

Go check him out if you’re curious. Here’s his video from this year’s May the 4th in Hollywood Studios. I recommend the watch just so you see how absolute crazy it gets! He also got a lot of cosplayers and even a glimpse of The Mandalorian, who we haven’t even seen yet!

Of Course, the days draw long for the kids sometimes. They get tired or hot or over the chaos. And they don’t know how to cope. Like my boy here, just apparently over it all haha.

Of all the years we’ve gone, 2024 was the first time we planned to stay there into the night. We usually go to a park and leave after 2 hours tops. But we wanted to stay in order to be there for the ending of the day where everyone gathers around the Millennium Falcon and does a lightsaber salute.

The freaking chaos, let me tell you! Pictures don’t do it justice. And then the countdown and trying to get everyone there to turn on their lightsabers at the same time. It was so freaking cool. Sucks we missed it this year but I’m glad we were able to experience it once. Hopefully next year we can do it again.

And look, I even took the time to upload the video as a short! I’m like a cool kid now, right?! I swear I take so many videos that I’m like “one day I’ll make that into a short and put it on YouTube.” I guess I finally made good on my promise to myself.

So look, we didn’t get to go to the park, but we’ll probably head out there today. See if there’s anything left over from yesterday. I think it’ll be worth the trip if only for Lightsaber Churros for the kids.

Ok, we went to the park! It’s a school night and a Monday no less, but we sucked it up and decided to go. Missing out on the big day yesterday, we wanted to at least get out there and get some sort of action going.

Honestly, as dumb as it sounds, we wanted to get the lightsaber churros for the kids hahaha. It’s one of those things we just wound up doing every year and it was actually brought up by the princess. So we went and got our churro on.

Just look at that packed on sugary Sith-ness! We usually get one of each but the blue ones they had looked pretty rough and barely had any blue on them. Boo!

Besides all the obvious stuff like ambiance, pictures, dressing up, etc., one of the biggest things to visit Hollywood Studios for May the 4th is easily the merch.

For the past few years, I’ve been refraining from going crazy. While some stuff is really cool, I’ve been trying to really limit myself on things that are not really needed. Overall I’ve been doing ok, but I’m not going to lie and tell you I haven’t been wanting to pick up Cal Kestis‘ lightsaber. Which unfortunately has sold out now, so I guess that makes the temptation a little easier to manage.

This photo is from May the 4th 2023, where Cal’s double bladed hilt was the featured exclusive lightsaber for the event. My broke heart wept because damn. Still though, I always want to pick something small up from all the cool, special, limited edition merch they have. A mug? A pin? Whatever is cool with me.

Sadly, this year we missed out on the official store which is typically only open on May 4th. We did however manage to see some stuff they had! Did I get pictures of what we saw? Of course not! There was nothing that we saw that was labeled as May the 4th, but what was there debuted on that day as new merch to buy up. Mostly Revenge of the Sith stuff which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and Empire Strikes Back stuff which is celebrating its 45th anniversary.

I would be lying immensely if I told you I didn’t want these Crocs. Legit, I walked away rather sad because I would’ve rocked them so hard haha. THEY HAD ONE PAIR IN MY SIZE!! They NEVER have crocs in my size in the parks. UGGGGGGGGGH! I’ll be over here like emo Anakin who wasn’t allowed on the Council.

Everything else was rather hit or miss for me, but still cool. There was a really cool Boba Fett baseball jersey that the wife and I thought was really cool (not cool enough to take a picture of it apparently), but I didn’t want to spend the $65 on it. Of course, regret sank in afterwards. But that’s just the pain you have to deal with when you take the responsible high road and rather have the money spent on your kids than you.

If you think the jersey is cool though, You could actually buy it online from ShopDisney if you wanted to. They have a few things in their Star Wars collection that was newly added that you could find in the parks right now. At the time of this posting, they’re still in stock so go check it out! And if you want to see a rundown of all the merch that was available, it looks like WDWNT has a good rundown.

Before I stop talking merch, one more thing that is always a huge draw during May the 4th are the Lightsabers. Now that Cal’s is discontinued, Kanan Jarrus, my favorite Jedi, has his lightsaber for sale now (it’s the longer one in the middle). Maybe one day!

People go absolute ape over them because every year they choose today to unveil a new exclusive one. They’ll come in these super premium looking boxes and they’ll fetch upwards of $300 – $400+ 😳! See Cal’s lightsaber pic above.  It always makes me feel like I’m doing something immensely wrong with life because people are walking out of the park with 2 or 3 of these crazy expensive lightsabers. You know they’re going to be scalping them online, but still.

Anyway, the teen – the same teen who is so very worried about what everyone thinks of him and doesn’t even want to wear graphic tees to school in fear of being thought of as “not mature” – decided he is a kid after all. Using birthday and Christmas money he’s been hoarding like a leprechaun, he got himself Jedi robes, a belt, aaaaaaaand a shiny new lightsaber. It all went really well with his Bass Pro Shop trucker hat, lemme tell ya!

I think the lightsaber was just so he could flex on his friends, but as he was walking around the park looking like he’s ready to protect tourists against the patrolling troopers of the First Order, I couldn’t help but think a few things.

One, he is still a kid. No matter what stress he causes and hate that he spews out of his mouth because we’re not parenting the way he wants us to parent, he’s still a kid (and yes, I said before that has to be another post, I need to work up to it). But I think it’s telling that no matter how old he tries to act, he’s still ok walking around a theme park dressed like a Jedi. And two, how long has he been hoarding this money?! Lightsaber was $200 and change! Freaking insane. But hey, it was new and exclusive and something I know he’s been wanting to do so I’m sure he’s happy with it.

Sadly, his brother once again got the short end of the stick. He tried to get himself robes as he already has two lightsabers at home, but they had low stocks from the day before and nothing was fitting right. So while his brother was walking around like a Jedi Straight outta Coruscant, he was stuck looking like a commoner. He kept reminding us in his disapproval that the Switch 2 releases soon so I’m sure he considers that a worthy trade off.

When we were done walking around Black Spire Outpost with our own personal Jedi escort, we ended the night with Rise of the Resistance. This is tied for my favorite ride in all of Disney World. The only competition it has is Avatar in Animal Kingdom because that is an experience. But so is this! And it’s Star Wars. And it’s so insanely well done as far as making you feel like you’re in another world. Another freaking galaxy! You know what… This IS my favorite ride in Disney World. Top spot, numero uno. This is top tier, must ride, mind bending experience that you need to see to believe.

I have videos and pictures and such, but you know what?! That’s another post! This has gone on long enough and I’d be honestly shocked if anyone made it to the end of this.

It was fun though. I feel like I covered two years of May the 4th celebrations. Actually, I did do exactly that. Can I go back and split it up and make it two different posts? I’m sure I can. But WILL I? No, I don’t think I will.

One thing I will do though is go back to making theme park posts. It’s been a while and this was fun! And there is a whooooooole lotta stuff to update these days regarding the parks. So I hope you’re ready.

Until next time!

May the force be with you

Los
