Humpday Update 4/9/25: Nintendo Switch Sticker Fans

Nintendo Switch sticker fans? Maybe that’ll make more sense as you read along.

It’s Wednesday again! I swear, I feel like the weeks are going by faster with this to do. I think it’s because it’s a timed task so the universe is trying to get me flustered with it. Shhh, don’t tell it it’s semi-working.

Alright, let’s get to it!

• I looked back and figured out something pretty crazy: I have updated and posted more over the past month and a half than I have over the past 3 years! That is straight up kookie-dukes if you ask me. It shows how much I’ve been neglecting this place of mine and even more so how much I’m enjoying myself now. 
• Finally ripped off the bandaid and set up the email updates again! I feel like out of everything I have done since coming back to blogging, this is by far the most complicated one. It is fairly straightforward to set up, but my issue is that I was trying to get everything going from where I left off years ago. So all my subscribers, all my email templates I already had set up, I was trying to keep everything and just wing it as I go. Whew, talk about getting thrown into the ocean to learn how to swim again.
• It’s equivalent to being done and fed up with Christmas decorations and then just throwing everything in bins, only to open them the next year and trying to figure out what in the bloody hell happened. Like a year in a bin in the garage caused the lights and extension cords to become sentient and intertwine themselves in an attempt to multiply. That jumbled and tangled mess is me and my email subscription client.
• Anywho. It’s set up. And if you want to get signed up to get email updates for whenever I post something new, then check out the new form for email subscriptions!
• I also set up two new blurbs on the side bar. The welcome message and the email update message. It’s been a long, long time since I updated that welcome message! Honestly, I haven’t paid any mind to it in forever. But finally actually reading it and having it refer to social icons I don’t even have anymore, I knew it was time to change.
• Since the last Humpday Update, the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced! To say it’s been a roller coaster of emotions and announcements would be an understatement. I have two posts here dedicated to it so far, and they’re both podcasts – A Nintendo Switch Retrospect, and The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct w/ Mike and Al. So go check them out if you’re interested in the new system! I definitely have more to say about it so look forward to more in the future.

• Speaking of the Switch, ever since the announcement, the original Switch has been getting some love in the house. More love than it’s gotten since The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom released. And I’m trying reeeeeally hard to fight it. I just have so much work that I’m giving myself and I feel like I don’t have time to squander. Maybe that’s thanks to the current state of the world, I don’t know. I just don’t want to be giving myself fun time when I could be productive in working on something. 

• That said, I’ve been playing Mario Kart, Smash, and Super Mario Wonder with the daughter and the boy. I’m there having a blast and enjoying it, failing miserably at being productive lol. But at least I’m enjoying the time with them. I really should just enjoy it seeing as how the magic of young kids and games doesn’t stick around forever. As I’ve learned with my boys. 
• Ugh, I feel like that Bilbo meme now. Where he’s looking at the ring and caressing it, asking himself, “why shouldn’t I keep it.” That is totally me right now. “Why shouldn’t I sit and play it…”

• Please appreciate this meme I just whipped up for myself. I swear, I’m hilarious. Why doesn’t my wife see it?!
• Geeze I can’t believe I haven’t forced the family to sit down and marathon Lord of the Rings. 
• I’m definitely going to be focusing on some Switch related posts here in the next week or two.
• UGH. This is me, totally succumbing to the fact that this is going to be a strong urge to try to resist. 
• I tend to put on some ambiance music on YouTube when I sit down to write stuff. It’s raining outside and actually cool. Probably the last cool weather we’ll get for the season. So I decided to put this on and it’s raining in the ambiance video and raining outside and I done messed up because now I want to sleep.

• AND PLAY ZELDA. Ha! Did you think that last bullet point wasn’t about Zelda? I sure fooled you. Breath of the wild has the best ambiance music. 
• OK FINE, no more Zelda. For now…
• I put together a few new stickers this week! I have to stop being lazy and get things in the shop quicker. Also need to stop being even lazier and update the shop’s Instagram. I’m not too crazy about updating social media with stuff, like I already went on about for an entire post. But I feel like I need to keep the shop’s feed updated for anyone looking to buy anything.

• Haha, another Zelda bullet point, gotcha!
• I try to not put trademarked stuff on the shop, so the Zelda Link one definitely won’t be on there. But if someone reeeeally wanted it, I’ll give it to them for free when they bought something else 👀.
• The marinara sticker is actually my wife’s design! I really liked a shirt I saw that said that. And she has been taking to drawing on her ipad lately and surprised me with it. It’s the little things, you know? 🖤

• I made this mix CD one for her in return. Apparently I messed up and didn’t include Hanson in there. But other than that I’m pretty happy with it. Now I have to make more of them with different genres, so that should be fun!

• It’s already hitting feel likes of 90 degrees here in Florida. Someone in the neighborhood was giving away 3 rotating tower fans with the instructions of “you just need to clean them.” Let me tell ya, understatement of the century, that was. I was there cleaning the outer grates like oh, this looks good. Accidentally hit the tower with something and the dust that flew out of it was like I just opened ancient texts from a long lost civilization.

• So the 20 minute clean job turned into 2 hours as I disassembled and detailed the fans. Tell you what though, they’re brand spanking new now! Don’t be lazy, kids. Don’t just wipe down the outside when you have to powerwash the inside.
• I don’t know what it is, but I feel like the past few years, there haven’t been any movies released that made me say we HAVE to go to the movies. The list for this year though…

• There are a few! Wanted to watch Captain America but I think that ship sailed already. Maybe we’ll be able to catch it before it leaves theaters.
• Minecraft seems to be doing amazing and the boy is excited to check that out. We need to make a trip, hopefully this weekend if everything lines up.
• Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* is the first Marvel movie in forever that I’m wanting to watch day 1. Omg, it looks so good and fun.
• Lilo & Stitch also looks great! If they would’ve stuck with their original concept for Stitch it would’ve bombed so hard. But I’m glad they went the Sonic route and changed it up. We’re not usually fans of the live action Disney remakes, but Lilo & Stitch is the wife’s favorite so I think we’re already going to be there opening day.
• And OMFG How to Train Your Dragon looks INCREDIBLE! That’s one of my favorite animated movies and they seem like they’re doing it justice.
• And that’s just getting up to May?! I’m excited for movies! This is so weird and not typical. Usually I could wait until they come out on video 4K but I don’t know about these.
• I can’t wait to get to the physical media posts I want to do. You think I get on soap boxes now, pfft! Man, I need to get to writing!
