Humpday Update 4/23/25: Updating the Sticker Shop

It’s Wednesday! It was a quick and busy week, so there’s not going to be much to this humpday update. Let’s get to it.
Humpday Update
- This is being published on the eve of pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2! I’m still not entirely sure if I’ll be able to get one for myself. I would love to, don’t get me wrong. But that’s a whole lotta stickers I need to sell! Hahaha
- No, I’m not the gamer that I once was. Heck, it’s been a long time since I’ve been the gamer that I once was. But I will always get excited for new hardware. It’s in my DNA. And it’s going to be mighty difficult to ignore this one, I’ll tell you that. Here’s to hoping I’ll join my gaming brethren come June 5th. Signs are looking good so far! I just sold my old Switch, it should give me a nice boost towards the new one!
- I tried out Blue Prince! Everyone going crazy about it, I had to take some time to check it out. Definitely felt that pull that everyone else is going on about! I could totally see myself getting lost in it.
- Saw this meme earlier in the week and I’m still trying to recover from how much it hurt me.
- I am not on the best of terms with my neighborhood’s Facebook group. I used to be. Used to be a freaking rock star on there! I was so stupidly hilarious… or was it hilariously stupid? I dunno, whatever, doesn’t matter. What matters is that I used to post the most ridiculous things on there. And the community needed it. They needed my level of stupid because so many of them need to just freaking smile more, the bunch of stiffs. Anyway, I say all that because I saw this the other day and it’s something I totally, 100%, no second guessing would have done here. Ugh, we could’ve had so much fun, why does everyone have to be jerks?!
Alright, I don’t think I have any more fun stuff. Onto..
The Business End
- Like that? The Business End. I think it has a nice ring to it! I’m still messing around with the structure of this humpday update thing. Last week, I did everything regarding the blog and such right up front. I think I like it more on the bottom. I mean, it’s more behind the scenes stuff anyway so I think it fits here.
- No update to the blog this week 🙁. I haven’t had a chance to sit and work on anything so the blog got neglected. I STILL have that movie review and the Switch article going. I feel like those are two humps that I need to push myself over before I could work on something else.
- I haven’t been able to work on the blog because I was working on some stickers! A buddy of mine put in an order earlier in the week, so I’ve been working on some special stickers for him, getting them designed, printed, and shipped out. And of course, I work on one and my mind starts wandering and next thing I know I’m working on two other ones and I start snowballing away from myself. But that’s good!
- Here’s the one I made for him! He’s a huge Lord of the Rings nerd, as am I. I’ve been wanting to make this one forever, and actually had the potatoes already drawn up. So I took this opportunity to finally get it done.
- For giggles, here’s my first draft of the design. Hot damn, did I sit back and look at this and hate it LOL. It was the equivalent of an artist throwing a bucket of paint at a canvas and seeing what it creates. I threw what I knew I wanted on the sticker and was like NOPE, this is horrible. So it took me a bit, rewatching the taters scene, seeing if there was anything else I could put in there. I actually watched it sitting next to the wife and when Sméagol said “sstupid, fat hobbit!” we both laughed lol. So that settled that, need to have that in there. And it just kept evolving as I went.
- Another one I did was this ADHD-O-Meter. In my idea notes I have had one listed for a while that said “from zero to overwhelmed in ADHD seconds.” So this is the one that was born from that. It went through quite a few iterations itself. I think I drew up about 4 different meters before finally sticking with this one. I’m still rather iffy on the words in the yellow. Not sure how I feel about it being scrunched up and not easy to read. But we’ll see how it goes.
- I fixed up the I was Petty Today sticker. I did this one and it looked clean, but the rainbow shadow wasn’t as prominent as I was wanting it to be. So I think it stands out pretty well now hahaha.
- And lastly, I also fixed up a brand new sticker I hadn’t even posted yet! I freaking LOVE A League of Their Own and “there’s no crying in baseball” has got to be one of the most widely known quotes in movie history. You know how many people who don’t like baseball and who have never even watched the movie have probably heard that quote somewhere?? Anyway, I love this sticker, but I originally made the one on the right. The red lettering always threw me off and I just didn’t like it. Took me a bit to figure out the right coloring but I think I…….

- All in all, I’m happy with what I’m doing so far in the shop. No, I’m not rolling in the cash or have a trail of orders going out the door. But I’m happy with what I’m doing and excited when I get an order, which is more often than expected! I see and hear other Etsy shops horror stories of having but one order over an entire year. So while I’m not crazy busy with orders, I’m happy with what I’ve done and what I get.
- The wife just peer pressured me into finally starting a FB group for my shop. So by this time next week I should have something up that can be an alternative to Etsy. We’ll see how it goes. One thing’s for sure, you’re gonna have to pass a vibe check to get in, so start working on those cool points!
