Humpday Update 4/2/25: Spring Break, Theme Parks, and a Birthday

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Another week, another humpday Update! So what happened this week?? A ton! Because I totally missed last week so you’re getting two weeks worth of stuff in this one. I’ll keep to the highlights, don’t worry.

Last week I spent humpday prepping “cakes” and celebrating the oldest’s birthday. I’m a parent to a 15 year old, and I’m still trying to recover from the realization.

So what’s been up?? Let’s see.

  • First and foremost, let’s get business out of the way!
    • This one is a little beefy, but when it’s a normal size, I’m going to be using the Humpday Update to give a roundup on what is new on the blog. So if I have a good week of posting, if you feel like you missed anything, come check out the Humpday Update to see everything I did.
    • I’m working on getting email updates up and running again. So once they do, I will once again be asking for your email support.
    • I’m also going to treat the Humpday Update as my sort of Instagram feed. Usually I would jump on Instagram and post a bunch of pictures about things we’ve done or stuff I’m up to. But since I’m trying to separate myself from social media, I’ll focus my energy here and post updates on the blog. But again, since this is a busy week, I won’t go crazy with that stuff.
  • Ok, moving on! I was totally sick. Got to the point where my face felt like it was being pushed in by pressure and i was going days not being able to sleep right. Antibiotics and steroids and it turned me around in a day! Still got a cough and the voice is rough but I’m better.
  • Two weeks ago was spring break here in Florida. Thanks to this lovely economy, we haven’t been able to go on vacations when we have time off. But that doesn’t stop us from having fun!
  • And by fun, I mean sleeping until 10:30 and then acting surprised when the day is over.
  • Seriously, who sleeps that late all the time?? I was not feeling great so I was totally fine sleeping in. But on a healthy week, I would’ve gotten up early and started doing business. Just feel like the day is completely wasted if we sleep in that late. And somehow I get more tired earlier?? What kind of BS is this?! Like I just woke up 4 hours ago, I shouldn’t be this tired.
  • We didn’t do much. Especially waking up so late. We hung around and did whatever in the area.
  • We hit up Animal Kingdom and Epcot in the same day 😵‍💫😵‍💫. It was a day! But we all had the day off and our Disney passes are basic and are only valid during the week. No problem for after dinner trips to the park, but Animal Kingdom actually closes around 5pm. So we haven’t been able to go there for a while now. It was nice checking out all the animals. Especially Kevin.

  • I’m planning on making a post about it, but we managed to get into A Bug’s Life just 2 days before it was shut down forever ☹️. Definitely going to revisit it on the blog here much like I did with The Great Movie Ride.

  • After this, we trekked it over to Epcot. We usually wouldn’t be this crazy. But it turns out this is the first time in 3 years that our black out dates don’t fall on the days Blue October performs. They’re always here during spring break but we can never go. So we made it a point to get in there and check them out.

  • I made a huge post about seeing them live before, you can see it right here. I’m wondering if I’ll do it again or not. We’ll see.
  • There was something rather significant that happened during the concert. But I think it deserves its own post. So I’ll get that out soon.
  • Speaking of other posts, I’m planning on putting a few out regarding theme parks. I feel like we don’t go to them the way we used to. The times and schedules have been changing, it’s been hard. But I’ll document it all soon.
  • Speaking of which, we hit up Universal as well! We went around, had some fun, enjoyed what we do. But maaaaaaaaaaaaan is Epic Universe looming on the horizon something fierce. So freaking stoked for the first brand new theme park to the area in over 20 years. And it looks like it’s going to be amazing! I can’t nail down what I’m most excited about, but if I really had to choose, it would most likely be Nintendo World. They’ve been dripping out their merch into the parks now and it’s been exciting to see things on the shelf. Cannot wait!

  • Maybe I should make a post about that 🤔
  • Humpday Update is turning into a “maybe I should make a post about that” roundup, huh? Going to make “making a post” the secret word of the day.
  • Remember that?! Pee Wee’s Playhouse had a secret word of the day that when anyone said it all the characters went crazy. Ahhh, what a golden age.
  • Teen was talking about how dumb golf is. So i told him in the 90s, golf was the best because we had Happy Gilmore. And i proceeded to talk about him as if he was a real actual golfer and I feel so accomplished knowing Happy now lives in the teen’s head.
  • Ugh. We don’t own that. Looks like I need to pick up Happy Gilmore on blu ray. We’ve been so big on physical media, I’m totally making a post about that.

  • It was the teen’s birthday this past week and MAN is it rough having a 15 year old! No, I’m not talking about the attitude or way of life. That in itself is making me want to walk out into traffic. No, I’m talking about the acceptance in my head that I’m old enough to have a 15 year old. It’s a hard pill to swallow.
  • We took him karting here in some place called Andretti’s. Been wanting to go there for a while and the kids all seemed to have a good time. Ended the day with some Kobe’s because that’s his go to spot for celebrating anything. All in all, I feel like it was an ok day for him.

  • Lastly, on what I think was the last day of spring break, the wife was like “I want to watch the sunset on the beach.” And within 20 minutes we were in the car and on the way to the west side. Florida has a bajillion things wrong with it, but at least we have two beach coasts. The lord gives and takes, I guess.

  • April Fool’s was yesterday. I look forward to it every year because I try to trick the teen with something food related. I’ve injected ketchup into his toaster strudel and iced it with mayonnaise. I’ve given him creamer to drink instead of milk.

  • This year though he refused to let me make him his breakfast! Could you believe the nerve?! So instead, i took the last of his birthday cake (he wanted Italian tri color cookies) and i scraped off the jelly in between the layers and replaced it with ketchup. I figured his brother was old enough to start getting pranked so they both got a ketchup filled cookie. And as it turns out… Ketchup, I guess, is not as different as raspberry jam! Neither of them really tasted it! The boy did a little. But the teen shoved his mouth and didn’t think twice until he saw us laughing at him. So I’d say this April Fool’s was a wash!
  • BUT! I did put dry penne pasta underneath their toilet seats! So when they sat down, they heard a loud CRUUNCH and it scared the bejesus out of them. At least I did something!

Alright that’s it! It’s been a humpday update, that’s for sure! Go check out my podcast I just released about the Nintendo Switch, and  maybe look forward to something about the Nintendo Switch 2! So until next week.

Que Dios te bendiga

Los
