On this day, 16 long, yet incredibly short, years ago, I was walking through this iconic park in city of my youth. With me, was a girl whom I was prepared to share the rest of my life with. She didn’t know it at the time, of course. To her, we were just walking through Central Park with my older sister. Originally, we were headed to the Alice in Wonderland statue, and that’s where I was going pledge my life, soul, and undying devotion to this girl. But then we came across Bethesda Terrace and the world famous statue, Angel of the Waters, sitting in the center of Bethesda Fountain. I knew then this is where it was going to be. So in the majesty of the Terrace (pictured above), I *got down on one knee in the most traditional, most gentleman-like way one could get down on one knee, and apparently out of thin air like a master illusionist, I pulled a ring out of my pocket. I then proposed to this girl and was ready to spend the rest of my life with her.

Then she said no.

But then she came back and finally said yes.

And here we are. 16 years later, numerous life events navigated and avoided/met head on, 3 kids, I forgot how many moves and homes, and over 28,000 hours spent cleaning/doing dishes/folding laundry… We’re still here. Still in love. And ready to continue this journey through life as if we’re Frodo and Sam, carelessly frolicking from The Shire all the way to Mordor, like any Orc or Ring Wraith is going to have anything we haven’t already faced together.
